Santa Rosa Senior Session

There is nothing more exciting than the last year of high school. I had my own senior this year so all the senior sessions I did were full of even more anticipation and excitement. I knew all the feeling the moms were going though, and how excited the young adults were to complete their schooling and cast off into whatever new adventure awaits!

For this senior photo shoot we went to Riverfront Park in Windsor. When choosing a location for a photo session I really like to find spots that have a wide variety of terrain. This is particularly important when you have multiple outfits and looks, like for a senior girl or a personal branding shoot. Riverfront Park has a nice lake, a redwood grove, and it is surrounded by vineyards. It really gives you all the backdrops that Sonoma County is known for.

The best time to take senior photos is the summer before senior year. Once the school year has started, seniors can be very overwhelmed. Often senior classes are hard and the college application process can be pretty stressful. If you missed the summer before senior year, another option is the winter after most applications have been submitted. This will depend a lot on the weather, but we can have gorgeous winter days. It is important to check with you high school yearbook committee to see what the deadline is if you plan to submit your portrait to the yearbook. Our friend Kira of 4 Realm Health and Wellness is a local health coach for women who brings 20+ years of experience as a nurse to her coaching. Kira needed some images if the things she loves to do, to post on her website and social channels to help show her potential clients who she is and what they might have in common. We had a blast shooting all over Santa Rosa Railroad Square, and then the Sebastopol Farmers Market. We ended at the park in Sebastopol to capture her love of fitness and nature.

Each one of these images tell a story about the things that matter to Kira. She then used these images to spark discussions on her social channels about how important it is to do things that inspire us! As we get deeper into the middle years of our lives, we tend to get bogged down in the must dos and we have to consciously block out time to do the things that make us joyful.

Sebastopol Vineyard Family Photos

When you live in a Mediterranean climate, you often don’t get the spectacular fall colors that other parts of the world get. The one exception is the vineyards! The grape leaves give us quite the show, with spectacular reds, oranges and yellows. When anyone requests fall colors, I know that the vineyard is the best bet! This family combined their family photos with a senior photo shoot, and even included their adorable dog. Sometimes teens can be a little less interested in family photos, but it’s such an important time to capture! Santa Rosa Equestrian Photo Shoot

As a life long horse girl, I am always super excited when asked to take photos that include horses. What is even more exciting is when I am asked to take horse photos for a breeder with a very special mare and foal. There is nothing sweeter than baby animals of any kind, but baby horses are often a fun mix of sweet and sassy. Dillon Beach Family Session

Dillion Beach is on the northern most border of Marin County and has the cutest little vacation cottages for rent at Dillion Beach Resort. Often families come here from all over the bay area! Last summer I had the pleasure of photographing three generations on this beach as they met for the yearly family vacation. Sebastopol Christmas Tree Farms Family Photos

This the season for family photos, and we had the most fun doing tree farm minis at the Christmas Tree Farm in Sebastopol! We had such a nice group of families this year and Garlock Tree Farm in Sebastopol was the perfect backdrop! Tree farm minis are the perfect option for the family who just wants a few good photos for their holiday card.

Sonoma County Mustard Flower Mommy and Me Session

Fields of lush yellow flowers signal one thing in Sonoma County, winter is on the way out and Spring is around the corner! Mustard is actually a super invasive non native plant to this area. It was brought to California by the Spanish, and it is very hard to get rid of. It does especially well in areas that are damaged or disturbed, like fire zones or land dug up for farms and roads. Ecology aside, the sweeping fields of yellow mustard flowers will forever epitomize Sonoma County in my heart.

This winter I had a mom reach out to me saying that her favorite color is yellow, and she always wanted photos in these flowers with her children. We headed over to The Happy Dahlia Farm, which plants mustard as a cover crop in the winter, to have a sun drenched yellow adventure with her girls.

As Moms we are so often behind the camera, capturing memories for our families. I am here to tell you it is SO important to have photos with you in them! Photos that. you love, and maybe not just the random cell phone snaps or selfies. I make a point to have photos taken of my family every year, and the number one request I have for our photographer is please capture me with my kids! Fairy Sisters- Santa Rosa Storybook Photos

One upon a time there were two adorable little sprites who came to play with me in the woods of Sebastopol. We had so much fun adventuring through Ragle Park while capturing their magic. Fairy photo sessions will forever be one of my absolute favorites. The magic and wonder in the children’s eyes is everything.

Football is Life! - Marin County Soccer Branding Session

There are some photo shoots that just end up being so much fun! When one of my favorite clients asked me to shoot some photos of her son’s soccer team for social media, I was a little unsure. I do a lot of photo shoots of children, but I have never really done any sports photography. They really wanted photos of the team with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background. As fabulous as the bridge is, it can be hard to shoot depending on which direction you come from. We chose Sausalito as the perfect location and prayed for good weather. You see, this shoot was scheduled in the middle of weeks of rain. The weather gods smiled on us, and this was the only clear afternoon that entire week!

Now this mighty team has dozens of fun photos for content for their social media campaigns. Their instagram has photos for weeks, and we even made a Reel for them. Sunset Family Session- Sonoma County Family Photos

There is this magical spot in Sonoma County where you are blessed with the most gorgeous sunset in all the land. This spot is perched above the Petaluma Valley, so you get to watch the sun drop down bathing the valley in the most beautiful golden light. I absolutely love this park for family photos. In the fall you have the most beautiful palate of wheat and lichen colors. In the spring the park is bursting with all the shades of green mother nature has to offer.

This gorgeous family chose the magical sunset for the backdrop of their family photos this year and I just love the way they turned out! Their last family photos session was in Napa Valley at a winery, which is another favorite spot of mine.

These gorgeous oak tress are dripping in lichen all year long. I love the way the light hits the tress perfectly bathing the family in the golden glow we all look for in sunset family photos.
